Privacy policy
This policy explains what Debt Payoff Map ("we", "the site", at debtpayoffmap.com) does with information. The short version: the numbers you type into a calculator stay in your browser, and the only third parties involved are the services that serve ads and measure traffic, described below.
What you type into the calculators
Debts, balances, rates and payments are processed in your browser by the page itself. They are not sent to our servers. To make the tool convenient, the numbers are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device so they are there when you return. You can remove them with the "Clear all" button or by clearing your browser data. If you press "Copy shareable link", the numbers are placed in the web address you copy. Anyone you give that link to can see them, so share it only with people you trust.
Information we collect
- Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, time) for security and operations.
- Emails you send us. If you contact us we keep your message and address to reply to it.
- Analytics. We may use an analytics tool, such as Google Analytics 4, to count visits and see which pages are useful. No analytics tool is loaded at the moment. When enabled, it loads only after you consent where the law requires it.
Advertising and cookies
This site does not currently show ads. We intend to show advertising provided by Google AdSense in future, and this section describes how that will work. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see an ad, measure performance and, if you agree, personalise ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, and learn more about how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Third-party vendors may also place cookies. You can opt out of some vendors' personalised ads at aboutads.info/choices.
- Ads are paid for by advertisers. They are not recommendations from us, and they never change a calculation.
Consent: EEA, UK and Switzerland
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we will ask for your consent through a consent management platform before we load advertising or analytics cookies that need it. You can say no and still use every calculator. You can change your choice at any time from the cookie settings link.
Legal bases (GDPR and UK GDPR)
We rely on your consent for advertising and analytics cookies, and on our legitimate interest in running and securing the site for basic server logs. If you email us we rely on our legitimate interest in replying to you.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict its use, to withdraw consent at any time, to data portability, and to complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office). Because the calculators do not send your figures to us, we usually hold little to access or delete. Write to contact@example.com. California and other US state laws give residents similar rights, including the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; we do not sell personal information.
Children
The site is not aimed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Where data goes
Our hosting, analytics and advertising providers may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States, under their own safeguards.
